Welcome to WorldSIVA!

Over the past years, anaesthesiologists in most countries have developed a major interest in intravenous anaesthesia. This has been prompted in many cases by the availability of improved drugs, such as propofol and remifentanil, and the more widespread introduction of target controlled infusion systems. These factors, together with improved education, have led to growing awareness of the value of these new techniques for routine anaesthesia and also to the rapidly evolving area of conscious sedation. Several National and International Societies for Intravenous Anaesthesia have now been established. On September 27-29, 2007 the `First World Congress of Total Intravenous Anaesthesia-Target Controlled Infusion' was held in Venice, Italy. This was also the 10th Anniversary of the European Society of Intravenous Anaesthesia. This First World Congress was a resounding success with 650 delegates from 49 different countries attending. The second World Congress of Total Intravenous Anaesthesia - TCI was held in Berlin on April 23 - 25, 2009 with 656 delegates from 65 countries. The third World Congress was held in Singapore in April 2011. You are invited to become a member of the World Society of Intravenous Anaesthesia. Members are eligible for a discounted rate for the next World Congress in TIVA-TCI.

Some history (written 29 March, 2010)

Many of our members did not like the subscription payment process that we were using up until March 2010. The commonest objections were that potential members did not want to create a PayPal account, and often did not realise that the subscription process resulted in a recurring annual payment of 20 Euro. Members frequently had problems cancelling their subscription payments through their PayPal accounts.

So ... although we are still using PayPal as the online merchant to process the credit card transactions, we have changed the process completely. The payment is now a single payment only (there is no subscription or recurring payment), which can be made by credit card without the need to create a PayPal account. If your credit card is already registered with PayPal and you wish to no longer use PayPal, you will need to either remove your credit card details from your PayPal account, or close your PayPal account.

As part of this change, we have also closed the "Members' Area" of the WorldSIVA website. The content previously available within the "Members' Area" will at some point in the future be made available on one or other of the various WorldSIVA sites.

If you have already created a recurring subscription with PayPal and no longer wish to continue with the annual subscription of 20 Euro, you should log in to your paypal account and cancel this subscription.

As of 24 May 2010 (the Ordinary General Meeting) the annual membership fee has been increased to 20 Euro.
